Brilliant report card

Today Nathan got his performance evaluation for the past 6 months. His boss, who is a BM1, or petty officer first class gave him his review. They rate members on the following categories: safety, quality of work, integrity, stamina, knowledge, respect, developing subordinates (there might be more categories, but these are the only ones Nathan mentioned) on a scale of 1 to 7, 7 being the highest. BM1 told Nathan that in his entire Coast Guard career, he has never seen an E-4 (Nathan's rank) get a 7 before.

But Nathan got one.

He got a 7 in stamina.

When they want to give someone a 7 they have to go a long way in documenting and proving that it's deserved; they basically really have to go to bat for the member and stick their necks out. Along with the 7 he got a slew of 5's and 6's with a couple of 4's sprinkled in...overall an excellent evaluation.

We're so proud of Nathan, and he's so proud of himself, too! I told him that it was so great that he was in a job that marked him on areas that he naturally excels in. And it's nice to see that his superiors can see and appreciate these traits.

Congratulations, Nathan!
